A passage from Casanova’s memoirs

“The young madcap suddenly proposed that the girls should dance a hornpipe in the costume of Mother Eve, and they consented on the condition that we would adopt the dress of Father Adam, and that blind musicians were summoned. I told them that I would take off my clothes to oblige them, but that I had no hopes of being able to imitate the seductive serpent. I was allowed to retain my dress, on the condition that if I felt the prick of the flesh I should immediately undress. I agreed to do so, and the blind musicians were sent for, and while they tuned their instruments toilettes were made, and the orgy began”

Happy Birthday Casanova!!

Happy Birthday to my main man Casanova!!! Most people don’t realize that Casanova was actually a real person who lived back in the 1700s. I have been reading his memoirs since I was sixteen and they are amazing. There’s twelve volumes full of his witty dialogue and recollections of his life including lots of scandal and wonderful philosophical insights. One highlight in my opinion is his numerous affairs with nuns over the years…I strongly suggest reading them…in the mean time here are my two favorite quotes of his.

“Weather happy or unhappy life is the only treasure man possesses and he who does not cherish it is unworthy of it.” Casanova

“;for is love anything else then a kind of curiosity? I think not; and what makes me certain is that when the curiosity is satisfied the love disappears. Love, however, is the strongest kind of curiosity in existence.” -Casanova

Happy Birthday Casanova!

“Weather happy or unhappy life is the only treasure man possesses and he who does not cherish it is unworthy of it”-Giacomo Casanova

Happy birthday Casanova!!! A strange synchronicity occurred today…Elvia and I where talking about Casanova and she asked what sign he was, I said I believed he was an Aries and I pulled out a computer to check and what a surprise I found when I read its his very birthday today! This made me giddy. Casanova is one of my absolute favorite subjects I have ever come across. I would love to be a historian just on him. I first started reading Casanova’s memoirs at the age of 16 and have been in love with them ever sence. His life is astounding and I am so happy he had the time to write about it before he passed away. I hope all of you have a wonderful evening and find some way to celebrate Casanova’s birthday…after all there is all kinds of ways you could celebrate this!!!!!

Wise words from Casanova

“Man is a free agent; but he is not free if he does not believe it, for the more power he attributes to Destiny, he more deprives himself of the power which God granted him when he gave him reason.”
